The Beginning of Wisdom

This is a post from a friend of mine and I thought maybe we could talk about it.

God/Jesus says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom and this is why not many people today have wisdom because they do not fear the Lord. I have been keeping track of the Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman case and I watched the video where George's dad was being interviewed and of being a devote catholic one of the very first things Old man Zimmerman did was to call Trayvon's girlfriend a liar by claiming that she was not on the phone with Trayvon Martin when George Zimmerman approached Trayvon. I will never understand why Christians believe that it is alright to lie and to even bare false witness against others and I guess it is because they no longer believe that we are required to strive to keep the commandments since they are taught that the commandments where nailed to the cross with Jesus and done away with and so they also no longer even fear God/Jesus. The Catholics believe that you can go from Sunday to Sunday sinning all you wish as long as you go to confession on Sunday and confess your sins to the priest. I mean just look at how the Holy Roman Catholic Church dealt with sexual sins of their priest. The church lied about it and tried to cover it all up. I am tired of people claiming to follow God/Jesus when in fact they do not. Christians, Catholics are all the same. God/Jesus forgive me but I do have such an anger against both Christians and Catholics as they are both such evil people. I to am evil, but I hate being evil. I wish I would never be evil again, but with each passing day I do more evil which I hate and I know that I will always commit evil sins as long as I am a prisoner in this fleshly body. As the Apostle said, Who can saved me from this evil body of death? Thank God through Jesus do we have forgiveness, but we got to desire and ask for forgiveness through Jesus, But I do long for the day when God/Jesus will allow me to put off this evil, sinful body through death. I am so tired I pray how much longer Lord Jesus must I suffer in this body of death and how much longer must I suffer in a world that is so full of sin and darkness. Forgive me Lord Jesus for desiring death, but life is just to hard to live. Hate abounds and love is fading. Now remains these three Faith, Hope and Love and the Greatest of these is Love.

There is a large contingent of people who believe it is okay to do anything as long as you ask for forgiveness. In my opinion, this is partly because we are taught that God will forgive all our sins. I think that one thing people forget is the caveat that you must sincerely repent to receive forgiveness. Unfortunately, over the years, Christianity has been used as a way to prove someone is a good person, and that truly is not a measure. Good comes from within, not from a label.

These Christians and their like* are the ones who give Christianity a bad name.

I try to follow the commandments even though I consider myself agnostic because they are pretty good rules to live by no matter what your belief system. (I was raised Southern Baptist, though.)

Good Christians have to call out these people if Christianity is ever to overcome what is widely seen as a religion of hypocrisy, drawing from the Old Testament when it suits and the New Testament when it suits. Oftentimes, these people are twisting the words to what they want them to mean. Which brings me to the issue of the Bible as the word of God. We must always bear in mind that man wrote these scriptures and what the society was like at the time. Passing on the word of God is an excellent opportunity for those in power to ensure their personal whims are included.

Jesus says the way to Heaven is through Him, but I do not believe that just saying "I believe in Jesus and accept him as my savior" is sufficient. Moreover, I also believe that those who live as Jesus would've have a ticket to Heaven. I'm not just saying that as an agnostic but as someone who has given the issue a great deal of thought. The God of the New Testament is quite different from that of the Old, and he is a loving, forgiving God. I believe that John 14:6 ("Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.") meant more than what we are taught. I believe "through me" means living a good life (what Jesus taught) and trying to do for others. I just cannot accept that good people will go to Hell.

*Don't get me started on the Westboro Baptist Church as those folks are the antithesis of everything Jesus taught.
